Raphael Ophaus is in demand as soloist, teacher and chamber musician and regularly works with prominant ensembles such as ‘Ensemble Modern’, ‘Ensemble Aventure’ and ‘Curious Chamber Players’ at festivals such as the ‘Ruhrtriennale’, the ‘Darmstädter Ferienkurse’ and the New Year's Concerts at the Frankfurt Alte Oper.

He has performed with musicians including Dennis Russell Davies,
Ilan Volkov, Peter Rundel and Jonathan Stockhammer.
The collaboration with composers such as Helmut Lachenmann, Louis Andriessen and Heinar Goebbels as well as numerous world premieres of works by young composers are another focal point of the musician's work.

Raphael Ophaus has won national and international competitions as well as various scholarships. He is scholarship holder of the "Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes", "Deutschlandstipendium", as well as the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation "Live music now".

He studied guitar with Prof. Jürgen Ruck and Prof. Stephan Schmidt and is currently completing a master's degree in musicology at the University of Würzburg.
His work has been documented in various CD and radio productions for BR, HR and SWR.
